45 RPM – Music of the 40s & 50s Monday 8pm & Saturday 4pm Producer Sam Waldron, an informative host, plays songs from the 40s and 50s that follows a theme. Some examples include music of the 1940s; Songs About Dancing; The Music of Cole Porter; Group Vocals; The Music of Elvis Presley.
A Way with Words Thursday 1pm & Saturday 8am is a lively hour-long public radio show and podcast about language examined through history, culture, and family. Each week, author/journalist Martha Barnette and lexicographer/linguist Grant Barrett talk with callers about slang, old sayings, new words, grammar, word origins, regional dialects, family expressions, and speaking and writing well.
African Airwaves Saturday 12pm is produced for KBFG by Doug Paterson and Hans Kelstrup. Doug was involved with African music since his first visits to Africa in the mid-70s. Sadly Doug passed in 2022 but lives on with rebroadcast from his radio program’s archives. Hans is a more recent convert to African music who became interested in tropical and African music while doing entomological research in Brazil and South Africa as part of his PhD studies.
Alternative Radio – Thursday 6pm A weekly one-hour progressive radio show featuring lectures & interviews with progressive thinkers. AlternativeRadio.org
The Anything Goes Show Wednesdays 4, a two hour music mix that features a unique theme each week. Whether it’s little – known tracks from your favorite artists or your favorite tracks from undiscovered artists, join DJ Sage Borlo for a dive into the obscure.
Backyard Deep Dive Saturday 6pm is a local music show hosted by local musician and KBFG cofounder Eric Muhs. Every week since 2022, we do a focused listening session: an artist, a band, an album, a concert, an event – something from the great past & present of music in the pacific Northwest
Bargain Bin Vinyl Hour Saturday 7pm with host Megan Hanna. Megan shares with the audience her latest finds from bargain bins at record stores and swap meets.
Black Lives Matter Friday 2pm Two hours of both current and archival material that demonstrates the treasure trove of Black culture, covered by authors, academics, and boots on the ground fighting for justice, equality and the end of historic racism.
Bradcast with Brad Friedman Thursday11am Investigative journalist, blogger, troublemaker and broadcaster interviews, analysis and commentates as ripped from the pages of the BRAD BLOG.
Daybreak Star Radio Lunch Hour A daily program at noon from the only radio network officially “indigenized” in the airways, showcasing Indigenous talent and perspectives.
Dick Lee’s – 60s Garage Rock Wednesday 9am A California show that features garage rock from California during the decade of the 1960’s along with national hits of the day.
Different Channels – Saturday at 10pm Hosted by local deep house maven Jon Lemmon. The show is an eclectic mix of electronic leaning tunes that crosses genres and boundaries, with each show taking on a life and mood of its own.
Flower Power Variety Hour Tuesday at 7pm & Saturday at 5pm From the alpine heights of Phinney Ridge, The Flower Power Variety Hour drifts in on a crackle of static. Incarnacion spins 1960s music of the Black Awakening, counterculture and beyond. The times are perilous, but the signal is strong; tune in, and you might just make it through the night.
Itinerant Radio Tuesday 8am & Thursday 7pm Jeremy Produced by Jeremy Smithson, this show brings past music programs from other radio stations and sources to KBFG listeners. Each show is entirely different from the previous one so you never know what to expect. Many programs include interviews with musicians whose music is featured, and no genre of music is excluded from the list of what you might hear.
Law and Disorder Friday 1pm & Sunday 8am provides timely legal perspectives on issues concerning civil liberties, privacy, right to dissent and practices of torture exercised by the US government and private corporations hosted by members of the National Lawyers Guild.
Local with Louise transformed into Local with Carly Friday 7pm & Sunday 1pm with music by the up-and-coming bands in Seattle’s live music scene.
Locus Focus Monday 11am & Thursday 2pm hosted by Barbara Bernstein, a regional program focuses on Pacific Northwest environmental issues, from KBOO in Portland.
Many Moods of Ben Vaughn Saturday 8pm hosted by Ben Vaughn an eclectic mix of music featuring rock, blues, jazz, folk, soul, rhythm and blues, country, boss nova, movie soundtracks, easy listening and more, all prepared with his twisted musicological slant.
Mixed Media Madness Wednesday 2pm & Friday 10am A program that presents the latest creations from authors, poets, actors, play, movie and TV directors and a look back off their work on the occasion of their death.
Morning News & Public Affairs Monday through Thursday 10am to 12pm Pamela Burton brings the latest in national and local events from informed voices who tackle this nation’s national environmental policy, health challenges, educational and civil rights. Featured programs include Heather Cox Richardson’s Letters to An American Bradcast, Radio Ecoshock and Volts.

Musicology Show Wednesday 8pm Before his untimely passing in 2022, Lain Hawkridge hosted a weekly music show on WKHS on Maryland’s eastern shore. Each show would explore the music of a city, a genre, a producer, or a famous studio, and Lain would explain the history and evolution of exemplary music on the topic. Subhost Eric Muhs (and Lain’s childhood friend) reassembled about 130 of Lain’s shows from an enormous pile of fragmented real-time recordings on CDs, and repackaged them with updated station ids to present them here on KBFG.

On the first Monday every month, DJ Shinbo showcases his ‘Pungent Sounds’ with an equally eclectic mix.

Rhythm in Bloom Friday 10pm Host John Hochheimer brings us a jazz and blues program from his extensive music collection and wealth of knowledge from decades of radio programming. Originally broadcast on WSIU in Carbondale Illinois.
Rhythm Roulette with DJ Solid Sound. Each week, DJ Solid Sound delivers a 1-hour mix based around a new genre, category, or concept. Featuring a mix of local, national, and international artists, both current and classic, this isn’t your average variety mix.
Rockin’ Pneumonia Monday 8pm & Sunday 2pm A house rocking road trip down the highways and byways of the mojo triangle with plenty of social stops to get down to some of the most soulful sounds around. The Rev packs each show with a motherload of raucous country, blues, soul, surf, rock and roll, R&B, folk, and rockabilly plus amusing vintage ephemera. The hip-shaking lease-breaking rhythmic gyrations heard on Rockin’ Pneumonia will win your heart, your mind and your ears. It’s good for whatever ails you!

Round the World with Cracklin Jane Sunday at 3pm & Tuesday 5pm is a weekly fictional radio adventure, punctuated by recordings of mostly popular music from the first half of the 20th century – in either 78-RPM or cylinder format, and with the pronounced crackling surface noise of authenticity. The show is produced at the easternmost community station in the US, WSHD-LP Eastport.
Secret Word Wednesday 9am & Friday 9pm Host Eric Muhs thinks of an ordinary word and searches his 5 terabyte library to see what arises and puts together an utterly eclectic hour of music tied together in the most improbable fashion.
Space Travel Advisory Sunday 10am & Friday 5pm A news program designed to inform listeners about space travel and space science. This program features news headlines, space weather, sky watching tips, and alerts about upcoming launches. In addition, the program delves deep into current topics through reports and interviews with recognized experts around the planet.
The Nice Up Tuesday 9pm is a show hosted by Selectah Mateo, which brings a free-form variety mix offering up choice cuts of irresistible sounds featuring flavors from around the world. Some examples might include Clinton Fearon, Madlib, Stereolab and more.
